THE BADDEST BOSS WOMEN OF THE YEAR! – Pt. 2
The Boss Woman of the Year Awards Was Toooooooo Lit!!! This was the 3rd year for the event, honoring women who are trailblazers and glass ceiling breakers. This elite group of women included Entrepreneurs, CEOs, Corporate Queens, Boss Moms, and Living Legends. It was full of non-stop empowerment, motivation and unforgettable guest speaking and networking experiences – with Creme of Nature swag bags and some spirits from the cocktail happy hour to keep the inspirations flowing. Nothing says Girl Power like this event!
And girrrrrrl the décor was sooooo freakin magical. OMG they had the cutest boomerang activation on the planet. It had a backdrop to go along with the theme of the event which said, “The Best Revenge Is Yo Paper” and all around it was pink play money that covered the entire floor area like rose petals out of a reboot of “Coming To America” with King Joffrey Joffer coming thru. You were to throw it up and tape yourself on boomerang mode. All the ladies did it and shared it on social media, it was too dope!
Y’all Marty McDonald, the founder of Boss Women Media never ceases to amaze me. This woman’s vision and ability to bring her empowerment events to life is beyond words. And they only get bigger and better. If you were in that room there was no way you left without feeling empowered, fulfilled, impacted, driven for more, and ready to conquer the world - giving the ultimate push to pursue everything your heart desires.
I was listening to the Entrepreneur Panel like “Yaaaaasss I’m going to open a new business!” I listened to the Corporate Boss Panel and then thought “Well maybe I could go back into Corporate” (or maybe not so much ha). But these incredible women are changing the narrative within rooms that don’t typically look like us. I couldn’t be prouder to be a woman of color than in that room of hungry hard working courageous women who wanted more for themselves, and inspired us all to do the same.
Then *drumroll* there was the panel I was blessed enough to moderate – The Boss Mommy Panel
The panelists were Destiney Green (Momcrushmonday), Dayna Bolden (Lifestyle Blogger), Jade Kendle (LipSticknCurls) and certainly not least Actress and Grammy award winner Letoya Luckett. The insights, the laughter and honesty we shared was incredible. The energy in the room was amazing!
There were so many moms in the room and I was so proud to see women courageously attacking their goals. The key gems and takeaways were:
1. CHILDREN UP YOUR BOSS GAME: Our children aren’t the reason to stop our goals, but an empowering part to our “Why” for what motivates us to to reach greater heights.
2. NO SUCH THING AS BALANCE *BOMBSHELL*: There isn’t such a thing as BALANCE. We do our very best and that’s gotta be good enough.
3. BE A SISTA TO ANOTHER MOTHER: Something I personally shared was “Be a resource to another mom. Don’t be selfish - help as you can and share your knowledge with another mother. If you are a new mom, an autism mom, a multiples mom. DONT be selfish! Help one another. You might be an answer to the prayer some mom may be praying for.”
And one of the most profound inspirations for me at the Boss Woman of the Year Awards was Massy Arias! This woman here…HOLY COW! She is the real deal Holyfield.
She is so passionate about her work. She’s passionate about changing lives! And she passionately shared her story to a room full of 500+ women who were listening to every word in complete silence. She spoke life into every woman! She spoke about resiliency, understanding and choosing your tribe wisely, and dusting yourself off when things don’t work out the way you want - when you want it. The process to success is long and hard, but in due time with hard work you can make your dreams an absolute reality.
There was no better way to jump into the 4th quarter to end 2019 strong like The Boss Woman of the Year Awards! I encourage you to check out their website – and never forget “The Best Revenge is Yo Paper!”
